Hello everyone!!
So, I think we've all been pretty busy since we returned home from CCS. I hope everyone had a great Christmas!!
Unfortunately, I haven't finished the first J&D (YET!!) It is almost done! I wanted to show some sketches because I am going to be out of town basically from this wednesday till next friday!

Marie Antoineete (which I am painting with watercolor) and my power animal is a chipmunk. They are good natured, like nuts, store things, and like to scurry. (just like me) Keep on doing art and enjoy the break!!

HEY GUYS, REMEMBER THIS?

So, the semester is coming to a close, and that long, three-week stretch of Winter Break is rapidly approaching (if you haven't noticed that light at the end of this dark tunnel of finals). I don't know about you guys, but finding time to sketch for fun was hard for me (that might have been, in part, because of the movies and Smash Bros sessions. I don't know).

So, instead of rotting away in our respective basements this break, myself and a few other contributors, were thinking, "HEY WHY DON'T WE RESTART JERK AND DRAW?"--at least for the break before second semester madness start, to keep that art stuff going on.

I thought I'd post this a few weeks ahead of time in my December Mania, to get it out there, and maybe get you all interested in rejoining if you break doesn't involve you chopping off your hands.

WORK DUMP

Oh hello, Jerk and Draw! So I finally caught up on the assignment. Here they are: Star Wars, Dreams, and Animal Instinct.

STAR WARS:

I just decided to sex up Chewbacca a bit.



I threw in a spazzy Princess Leia for goo measure, as well.



DREAMS:

I wasn't quite sure where to go with this one, so I decided to think of a reoccurring dream. This summer the whole I'M-PREGNANT-HOW-DID-THAT-HAPPEN-SHIT-THAT'S-INCONVENIENT dream happened all too often.



ANIMAL INSTINCT:

First thing I thought of was those silly turkeys, drowning in the rain.

So its my first digital painting was fun getting the hang or learning the ropes wanted to do something simple. Dream. It was a crazy dream decided to do one part of it the calmest moment with my Favorite animal it was an octopus bodyguard good times... Anyway I don't think I'm done with this. opinions welcomed

Animal Instinct

So the new topic is "Animal Instinct"!

The task is very simple...

pick a subject and have it take on some animal characteristic or quality.

and I would like the choice to not be a furry mainly because that is really overdone. If it is a furry, at least make it more interesting than the many, many pieces on websites like Deviantart.

Also I'm sorry I didn't update and have not really submitted anything... the summer has been distracting.

I will be working on this one and I can't wait to see what you guys put up!

UPDATE:

I think I need to be more specific for what I meant by "subject".

You are free to do anthropomorphic creatures, the note about furries was to broaden the scope. You are also free to pay homage to creatures of the half man - half animal nature or combine things up. A subject can be anything from plants, weather, robots, etc. I just wanna see some RAWR in it. BE FIERCE!

The examples above are from one of my fav artists, Yoshitaka Amano. The first one is the robotic horse from Vampire Hunter D, I couldn't find a illustration that showed the detail so this is a photo of a character model. The second one is from Guin Saga, about mysterious warrior Guin who has a leopard mask magically affixed to his head.

Something about the mind, and what it stirs up while you sleep. So many dreams are really narrative/ seem to have some kind of story line, so that would be cool if you could see some kind of story in the picture about whats happening in the dream. Dreams, the affects of dreams, basically the most bizarre feelings you can put onto paper/ digital.

Can I just tell you...

I LOVED DOING THIS PIECE!!!

At first I was just going to do some art nouveau inspired 60's poster design with some beautiful red woman but then I was looking at some arts on the interwebs and came across this beautiful piece of a face surrounded by a cloak of fabric that had these fictional animals all interwoven in it. I thought it was really beautiful and just doodled something like it in my sketchbook.

Later, I was all "oh... The turban kinda reminds me of a rose" and then I was all "THIS WILL WORK FOR LADY IN RED!!!"

I have to say, after seeing Millie's piece I really wanted to turn out something cool and I'm quite proud of this.

Sorry it's late. The camera was being held captive. Since I can now raise my arm about my head and can finish my finals I was more focused on those this week. I didn't get beyond these little drawings of robots, which were just to figure out what robot I wanted to use in a final piece.

I did this with watercolor and white gouache on some cardboard!

Well i was thinking for a while and came up with redoing a movie poster whats better than old cheesy horror. shamefully its not done wanna do the last part very well pretty much 50% there and need my damsel in distress of course. Well critique away i'll add suggestions to the final product.

I wasn't happy with how the painting I was doing for this assignment was turning out... and I'm really eager to just work on some personal pieces sooo... I've decided this week to not stress and just turn in some sketches. We have the anti-poodle skirt girl in a bulldog skirt annnnddd a housewife who decided hell, why do the dishes when I can drink some bubbly with my dog? Enjoy.
